No One Else But Him

My eyes feel scratchy.
I feel pain in my neck and shoulders,
Sometimes in my back.
It all disappears when I talk with him.
Why is that?

When he enters the room
There is no one else but him.
The room could contain one hundred people
And still he would be the only one there with me.

Our eyes meet
And the distance between us vanishes.
It doesn’t matter
If it is a foot
Or a thousand yards,
The distance is no more.

I am in pain today.
I only noticed it
Because
I had not yet seen him.
